Autumn

1.Why did you pick this particular image over the others?
Because it reminded me most about how autumn makes me feel, and I often go on walks on this stone path in the autumn. I like this image because of it's irregular composition mixed with repeated pattern/ texture and even though this image isn't high in contrast, but I felt it best showed the feeling of the cool, crisp autumn morning that day and I felt it was a less "typical" autumn picture that communicated the same emotion.

2. How did you setup / compose your photo?
I waited until the sun came out from behind the clouds before shooting, and then when it came out I tried to find textured/ interesting surfaces that would show dark shadows in these light settings. I was originally photographing the shadows of the branches along the trunk of a tree, but I saw the same shadows falling in a more interesting way on the path and chose to photograph that instead. I used manual focus on this image because it was easy to get a clear, still image.

3. What stands out the most when you first see it?
The first thing I see when I look at this picture is the dark shadows of the branches, followed by the texture of the stones and the leaves, making the theme of autumn apparent without being obvious.

4. What leads your eye around from place to place?
The strong directional lines of the shadows from the branches

5. What title(s) could you give this artwork?
Autumn Morning Walk
