1. Why did you pick this particular image over the others?
I liked the strong lines which remind me of Rodchenko's style, the heavy contrast and the reflection of the windows on the right side. I also like that the corner plays around with the viewers depth perception and makes them have to spend more time understanding the photograph.
2. How did you setup / compose your photo
I was photographic metal bars and other things with strong directional lines as Rodchenko did. I experimented with these windows with about 10 different compositions, and composed this shot with the intention of forming strong directional lines and making the shot look more linear and graphic. For this image to be successful, I had to wait until the sky was more overcast to try and avoid overexposure and unwanted glare on the glass. This image was shot on auto focus.
3. What stands out the most when you first see it?
the perfect rectangle on the left which is horizontally centered.
4. What leads your eye around from place to place?
the bars from the windows on the right side of the image lead the eye to the focal point. There are lines both diagonal and vetricle repetition that bring the viewer's eye to the rectangle on the left.
5. What title(s) could you give this artwork?
3rd Floor Windows
